I Recommend….Don’t Sass Your Mama

Let me introduce Megan Penner of Don’t Sass Your Mama Jewelry by LateToEveryParty. Can we just stop here, is she not gorgeous?  And she kills me with her style, I love her modern, boho, New Mexico artist vibe. Ok, back to why I recommend Megan and Don’t Sass Your Mama Jewelry.

There are so many reasons I love Megan and her designs but probably the top two are: comfort and custom.  Megan’s button earring line defies categories because they can be created with most materials and in endless patterns.  They can fit in anything from a Classic Personality Style all the way to a Creative Personality Style.  This allows me to suggest her earrings to anyone.  Limitless.  Here is some more information about Megan and her business-in her own words.

Where are you from? Currently I live in Rio Rancho, New Mexico.  I grew up in many places but consider my roots to be in Arizona and Winnipeg MB, Canada.

What service do you provide? Fabric Covered Button Earrings

What training, education, experience do you have in your area? None.  I’ve always loved style and finding ways to express individuality through fashion.  I went to school for cosmetology and although I didn’t keep up my education it opened up a whole new world and confidence in style and my ability to create it.

What do you love about what you do? The aspect of creating something that expresses someone’s own interest or personality.  I find I create the cutest earrings when I’m making them for a specific person; the energy I get from that person’s own personality is reflected in the earrings.

Why do you do what you do? I’ve always needed some kind of creative outlet.  I used to blog but after having 2 children I found it too involved and it started to drain me more than energize me. I am obsessed with fabrics, patterns and textures.  My mother is a quilter and every time I visit I would go to her sewing room and just look at all the fabric.  My son was playing in her scrap bin after I had my daughter.  I was feeling so drained but something about seeing him among all the patterns energized me and I thought “What can I do with this?”

Who is your style icon and why? Pinterest? I honestly don’t have a style icon but I love seeing women in their 60s and 70s with healthy gray hair, hippie clothes, stylish boots and laugh lines.  I hope to look just like that one day.

For you personally, what one item makes you feel stylish? A good hairstyle and eyeliner.
