“I’m Waiting For..”why you don’t need to wait to discover style

Posted On August 16, 2019

“I’m waiting for”…I often hear this sentence when talking with people about style.  In talking to people about my career they are often excited and state how they need someone like me.  However, the next statement I often hear is “I am waiting for…”  “Once, I lose ____lbs.”  “I am waiting until I get ‘in shape’.” “I am waiting until….”

This makes me so sad, not because of the business, but due to the unspoken statement this is making.  Often what we are saying here is, ‘I am waiting until I am good enough’, or ‘until I am have it all together’, or ‘until I deserve it’.  PLEASE HEAR THIS, learning about your personality style and your  unique physical features is not something you need to earn.  There are so many cool things that make up you.  When we give reasons similar to those above we are saying that we are not ideal yet so we don’t deserve to express who we uniquely are…just wait.
Waiting for what we are ‘supposed to be’ goes against the very grain of what is Style.

According to The Oxford Dictionary Style is a manner of doing something.  A distinctive appearance, typically determined by the principles according to which something is designed

Hmmm, does this sound like something you attain or something you are instinctively?  This definition seems to mean Style is the expression of you, not defined by someone else.

When I say a Style That is You I mean while working with me we discover what is distinctive about your appearance (physical features) and what is your natural inclination in dress.  Losing weight can be healthy, but it is not going to change the Body Shape Type, Facial Features and the myriad of other things we look at in finding Style That is You and while your feelings toward yourself might change, the core of who you are and how you want to express that in style remains.

So, you don’t need to wait to discover your style.  The you that you are now has value, has a voice and doesn’t need to be stuck in the corner until whatever you are aiming for comes to fruition.  Do it now!  It is a great joy and brings much satisfaction to find a style that looks good on you and feels authentic to you.

Take some time to ponder the reasons you hesitate and remember you don’t need to wait to discover style, you have beauty, as is…
